The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said there has been no data breach affecting the eGovPH mobile app.
DICT in a statement dismissed the report by the cybersecurity website Deep Web Konek about a supposed “data exfiltration of a threat actor” as a hoax, citing results from the initial investigation made by the National Computer Emergency Response Team (NCERT) and the eGov Development Team.
“We assure the public that their data on the eGovPH App are safe and the services being provided by the DICT remain secure. We ask everyone to be mindful in sharing content online and rely on official Department channels for accurate information and updates,” it added.
Deep Web Konek claimed that some 200,000 entries on the one-stop government services app were compromised, with the hacker supposedly “ready to sell” the sensitive information.
Through eGovPH, app users can conduct transactions with various government agencies and access digital copies of their government IDs.
